The in-school Surf Survival program teaches students vital skills to enjoy the beach safely.

The six-week (this timeframe can be adjusted), beach-based course, conducted by fully qualified surf lifesavers, will teach students important skills for managing the dynamic conditions of the West Australian.

Students will learn how to identify hazards, understand waves and rips and have the opportunity to use nipper boards and rescue tubes, and practice first aid and resuscitation. The in-school Surf Survival program offers three levels of learning:

  1. Surf Aware
  2. Surf Skill
  3. Surf Wise

In their school-based year groups, students will progress through the three levels. On completion of each level, students will receive a certificate to recognise their acquired learning outcomes.
