SunSmart WA Surf League winners

While athletes were greeted with overcast conditions for the third and final round of the series, which played out at Trigg Beach this morning, the light onshore winds and small swell was enough to test their skills.

Sitting atop the leader board entering this final round, Trigg Island Green continued their dominance, taking another round win and ultimate series honours. Not far behind was City Rhode-Scholars, who backed up their previous two second-place finishes with another to secure the second position on the podium.

With North Cottesloe not fielding an Open team this round, the battle was going to play out between Mullaloo Blue, City of Perth B and Trigg Island Red, who all started the day tied on 23 points. Ultimately, Mullaloo Blue wanted it more, securing a 4th place finish this round, which was enough to see them secure the final spot on the podium.

The Sorrento Dolphins also had a good day, finishing round 3 in third place, their best performance of the series.

In the Youth arena, City of Perth finished out the series with a clean sweep of all three rounds. The battle for second and third was fought out between North Cottesloe A, who entered round 3 two points ahead of Trigg Island Green; however, Trigg came prepared and a third-place finish this round was enough to secure them 2nd place series honours, with North Cottesloe in third.

Mention must be made of the City of Bunbury Youth team, who had an outstanding round 3, finishing the day in 2nd, which was enough to leave them 5th in the overall standings at the end of the series.

Series place getters for both Open and Youth shared in $20,500 prize money.

A huge thanks to our naming rights partner, Healthway, promoting the SunSmart message, and our event officials.
