Clear skies provided ideal conditions for competitors at Round 2 of the WA Surf League, held at City Beach on Sunday morning, which saw City of Perth Red come away victorious on 79 points, followed by Trigg Island in 2nd on 61 points and City of Perth Black 3rd with 59 points.

The mixed 8-person taplin relay was an exciting race to kick off the day’s events, setting the scene for the remainder of the days competition. Trigg Island won the team race ahead of City of Perth Red and City of Perth Black, while the surf boat arena was once again dominated by North Cottesloe, who claimed 1st and 2nd in the female division, ahead of City of Perth Red, as well as the top three placings in the male arena.

There were many standout individual performances on the day, including City of Perth’s Jade Mickle, who had another outstanding day on the water showing her surf skills on the small waves that were on offer, winning the Board, Swim and an exciting Ironwoman race ahead of Kirsty Higgison (Surfers Paradise), an invite into the Ironwoman event after coaching the Under 8 and Under 9 Nippers in the Nipper Clinic!

Ceris Graham (Trigg Island) won the ski race ahead of Cottesloe’s Natasha Leaversuch and North Cottesloe’s Asa Nowell as well as claiming second in the board race, while City of Perth’s Gabrielle Murphy took 1st in both Sprints and Flags; Sorrento’s Jackson Symonds the win for Beach Sprints; while Ben Jones from Trigg Island claimed victory in the final event of the day, an exciting Ironman race, ahead of City of Perth’s Thomas Gallagher and Max Anderson-Loake.

Viewers who couldn’t make it down to City Beach were able to live steam the event from home and keep up with the action! Final Results from the days events are now available and highlights from the competition can be watched online below:

Alongside the competition arena over 150 Nippers enjoyed skill development sessions led by Ironman legend and Coach Phil Clayton, and rising Ironwoman star Kirsty Higgison!
