The annual Surf Life Saving WA Hall of Fame & Life Member Dinner, hosted by Surf Life Saving WA President Craig Smith-Gander, was held on Saturday 9 March at Scarboro Surf Life Saving Club and saw many stalwarts of the movement here in WA come together to catch up and reminisce.

Emceed by 6PR radio host and surf sports commentator Simon Beaumont, the evening recapped highlights from the past year including delivery of the second season of the WA Surf League; the implementation of the new carnival management wristband technology enabling live tracking of event results; and the new Youth Officials program which saw some our younger members officiating at surf sports carnivals and championship events for the first time.

Guest speaker and Surf Life Saving WA Ambassador Steve Plain took guests on a journey, from his accident in the surf at Cottesloe Beach where he sustained life-threatening injuries, to his world-record breaking Project 7in4 that saw him summit the highest mountain on each continent in under four months while raising money for Surf Life Saving WA.

In attendance were three previous Surf Life Saving WA presidents, including Councillor Mark Irwin, Wally Fry OAM and Ed Jaggard OAM, along with dual Life and Hall of Fame members Ian Scott OAM, Mike Cook, Denis Smith and Leigh Buchan.
