The place to be last weekend was indoors at the SunSmart Pool Rescue State Championships at HBF Stadium, Claremont as the weather outside on the weekend of 1-2 July was nothing short of miserable.

The racing was fast and competition was close all the way with records dropping consistently. Fremantle was the stand out club on Saturday with Trigg Island standing tall in the senior events on Sunday.

This season saw significantly increased numbers competing right across the SunSmart Pool Rescue series culminating in over 400 competitors, from 13 clubs at the championships – well over 100 more than last year.

Standout individual was Jake Smith from Trigg Island SLSC coming home with 6 individual gold medals, 6 team gold and 1 silver medal. Jake’s significant success in Pool Rescue is seeing him head to Wroclaw, Poland soon to represent Australia at the ‘The World Games’ competing 22-23 July.

The Nippers Champion Club is Fremantle SLSC with 216 points, Senior Champion Club is Trigg Island SLSC with 629 points and the Masters Champion Club is North Cottesloe SLSC with 139 points.
