My Beach

More than 400 Nippers from across Perth descended on Alkimos Beach last Sunday for the Alkimos Surf Life Saving Club’s inaugural Nipper Development Carnival.

Designed to introduce both WA’s newest Surf Life Saving Club, Alkimos, and new Nippers to surf sports competition, the focus for the day was on learning and encouraging all Nippers to have FUN, rather than ‘compete’, with everyone coming out a winner!

It had already heated up when the participants from Alkimos, Trigg Island, Sorrento, Quinns-Mindarie, Mullaloo and Scarboro Surf Life Saving Clubs kicked off at 9am and conditions remained calm throughout, providing the perfect environment o test out their surf sport skills in modified Surf Race, Board Race and Beach Flag events.

The entire community was involved with SLSWA Community Partner Lendlease organising parking and facilities on the day, in addition to their ongoing support of the Alkimos Surf Life Saving Club.

Feedback from participating clubs was overwhelmingly positive with many commenting on how smoothly the event ran and the low stress environment, which meant lots of kids having fun!

Congratulations to all participants on the day and thank you to all clubs involved for their assistance in running the event and providing officials and water safety, to ensure it was a success.
