Having just wrapped up a massive long weekend of Championships action, our Nippers are all set to return to the sand this weekend as they tackle the surf events of our 2024 SunSmart WA Surf Life Saving Championships.
After a huge weekend of beach events, and with points from the already run R&R events in play, we currently see Sorrento SLSC sitting in the top spot as they aim for their 4th consecutive Champion Nipper Club title, ahead of Quinns Mindarie in second and Trigg Island in third; however, with plenty of events yet to come, podium positions are still up for grabs! Check out the full Nipper Club points tally here!
Our Youth & Open athletes, having also taken on the beach and lifesaving events this past weekend, are nearing the pointy end of the competition with just the surf events yet to be contested over the weekend of 16 – 17th March. Taking into account points from the Lifesaving, Surf Rescue, Short Course Surf Boats, and Beach events, we currently see Sorrento leading the charge ahead of Trigg Island and Mullaloo. You can see the Champion Club points tally here.
If you missed the beach event action, you can re-watch the event livestream from our Youth/Open arenas, here on Facebook or YouTube!
On Sunday, fifteen country clubs took on the SunSmart WA Country Championships and, while surf boats are yet to be contested, City of Bunbury Surf Life Saving Club has a comfortable lead and look poised to secure their 30th consecutive Champion Country Club title!
Monday closed out the weekend as our Masters athletes battled it out in the beach and surf events and, with Surf Boats still to take place, the top of the table is tight with Trigg Island currently sitting in first, but Sorrento and North Cottesloe are hot on their heels – check out the Masters points tally here.
Finally, a huge thank you to all our Officials and Referees without whom none of those events could happen, and to our fantastic surf sports partners Healthway, promoting the SunSmart message.
Don’t forget, you can stay up to date with live results across all events here and download the official guide here!
