My Beach

Trigg Beach hosted a huge turnout for Surf Life Saving WA’s 2017 SunSmart Endurance Championships over the weekend, which saw competitors from U/11 to 60+ battling it out with Trigg Island SLSC victorious, taking home the win with a +100 point margin!

The weather stayed on side for the Championships held on the Saturday, with an easy 1m swell with warm and calm wind.

In an event first our Nippers joined the competition with 118 U/11 – U/13’s competing across the Beach Run, Ironman and Ironwoman races. One star performer was Under 11 Brodie Lee (Mullaloo SLSC), competing against some of the older, bigger competitors, finishing in third place in the Under 11 – Under 13 Ironman – way to go Brodie!

Thirteen Surf Boat Crews tested their strength this year, rowing up the coast from City Beach to Trigg. Taking home the gold was North Cottesloe SLSC in Open Men’s and City of Perth SLSC’s City Senyoritas in Open Women’s.

A standout individual athlete was Ethan Jackson (City of Perth) coming home with three medals from Under 17’s, including two golds and a silver, while other notable wins came from Oliver Brehaut (Secret Harbour) winning gold in the Under 14 Swim and Under 14 Board, and Nikita Fredonnet (Trigg Island) bringing home the win in the Under 15 Run and Under 15 Board.

Congratulations to all competitors involved in the on the weekend. Special thanks to our surf sports partner Healthway promoting the SunSmart message.
