Silver Medallion Patrol Captain Course – Mullaloo

The Silver Medallion – Patrol Captain course provides an opportunity for experienced and qualified patrolling lifesavers to contribute to the safe and efficient management of patrols. The ability and confidence to act as Patrol Captain is a valued skill, and another way that members can contribute to the club and the community it serves.

Course dates

Monday 18/11/2024 – theory/workshop @ Mullaloo SLSC – 6pm to 9pm

Wednesday 20/11/2024 – theory/workshop @ Mullaloo SLSC – 6pm to 9pm

Saturday 23/11/2024 – practical/scenario assessments @ Mullaloo Beach commencing at 8am (duration dependent on number of participants – allow a minimum of four (4) hours)

All three sessions must be attended.

Pre-requisites

  • Currently financial surf life saving club member
  • Minimum age 18 years
  • Hold a current SLSA Bronze Medallion
  • Have a MINIMUM of one full season of patrol experience
  • Be endorsed by their club (Lifesaving Manager or equivalent)
  • Complete eLearning online (includes assessments) printed copy or PDF of certificate
  • Complete, save and bring the Leadership Workbook to the course
  • Download the Operations App and have access to the Surf Risk Rating (SRR)
  • Complete the On The Job component before attending the course

There is no charge for this course.

Assessment

  • Successful completion of required eLearning activities (online), this includes the theory component – to be completed BEFORE the first face-to-face session
  • On The Job Log of experience (Log) – bring this to the training
  • Leadership Workbook – bring this to the training

The practical skills assessment will be on the beach (but you won’t get wet!)

Expectations

  • Be actively involved – work as a team
  • Be punctual for each session and remain for the whole of each session
  • Ask questions if unsure of anything
  • Participate in some self-directed learning between the two sessions.
