IMPORTANT

• HLTAID011 Provide First Aid course includes HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). You do NOT need to book a separate CPR course

 

• Due to the introduction of the requirement for a USI we are NOT able to issue certificates on the day of training. If you require it urgently, please plan accordingly by enrolling in a course that allows a few days for you to receive your certificate.

 

• Students who do not have a paid membership with SLSWA will NOT be eligible to use member only discount codes. The Curtin Student Guild does not have a membership with SLSWA. If non-members apply member discount codes, their enrollment will not be confirmed. Additionally, certificates will be withheld, until payment is made, for students who complete the practical without making the required payment.

Introduction

The Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course delivers the essential principles‚ skills and knowledge to maintain or restore breathing and circulation in an adult, child or infant. The course content is based on the policies and standards of the Australian Resuscitation Council.

Course Content

• Recognise an emergency situation
• Legal Issues and infection control
• Assessing the casualty and recognising the need for CPR
• Emergency action principals - DRSABCD
• Plan an appropriate first aid response
• External cardiac compressions (CPR)
• Adult, Infant and child CPR rates and techniques
• One and two-person CPR techniques
• Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

Assessment

YOU ARE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE AN ONLINE ASSESSMENT COMPONENT BEFORE THE DATE OF THE COURSE.

If you do not complete this component, you may not be permitted to attend the course.

This course is assessed through demonstration, presentation and application of all elements of competency in the workplace. Candidates will be required to complete activities that may include role-plays, oral and written questioning, practical demonstrations and performing scenarios.

Please note, it is a requirement of this course that the practical demonstration of CPR must be performed on the floor.

Accreditation

Upon successful completion of the course, candidates will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for the following unit of competence: HLTAID009 - Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

Validity

One (1) year from date of course. It is recommended by the Australian Resuscitation Council that you update your CPR skills every 12 months.
