About This Course

This course teaches you how to perform CPR and use an AED (defibrillator) in an emergency situation until medical help arrives.

Course Topics

You will learn about:

• Emergency response and the DRSABCD action plan
• CPR for adults, children and infants
• Using an AED (defibrillator)
• Recovery position, reassurance and incident reporting

Assessment

Online Theory

You must complete an online theory assessment before the course date.

Office hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm.
Students who do not complete the online component may not be able to attend the course.

Practical Assessment

During the face-to-face session, you will:

• Demonstrate CPR skills
• Perform CPR on adult and infant manikins
• Perform at least 2 minutes of continuous CPR on an adult manikin on the floor
• Use an AED safely

Course Requirements

To complete this course, you should have:

• Basic spoken and written English skills
• A basic level of physical ability for CPR activities
