Community Surf Rescue Certificate Requalification

The Community Surf Rescue Certificate will provide candidates with skills and knowledge of aquatic safety, rescue and survival skill techniques for supervising students participating in activities both in and around various aquatic environments.

Candidates will be required to demonstrate various surf rescues, basic first aid skills, supervision skills in an open water environment and identifying potential risks. The certificate is recognised by the Department of Education and Training water safety guidelines for supervision of children in both open and closed aquatic environments and is suitable for anyone over the age of 13.

Course Content

• SLSA signals
• Risk Assessment analysis
• Recognise appropriate safe beach zones
• Basic first aid skills relevant to the aquatic environment
• Various rescues techniques including tube and body board rescues
• 100m run/100m swim/100m run (5 minute time limit)
• 200m swim recognisable stroke (5 minute time limit)

Assessment

This course is assessed through demonstration, presentation and application of all elements of competency in the workplace. Candidates will be required to complete activities that may include role-plays, oral questioning, practical demonstrations and performing scenarios. As the course is a requalification, previous skills and foundation knowledge will be assessed and a reduced amount of learning as required. 

Accreditation

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive the Community Surf Rescue Certificate. The certificate is recognised by the Department of Education and Training water safety guidelines for supervision of children in both open and closed aquatic environments.

Please note that we are unable to provide certificates on the day of the course. We also do not provide a temporary certificate. We endeavor to issue certificates within 10 working days of the course date. If you require evidence of a certificate urgently we will do our utmost to assist but we cannot guarantee that we will be able to issue the certificate at such short notice.

Validity

One (1) year from date of course.
