The Basin (Rottnest Island)

The Basin is a popular picnic and swimming spot, backed with plenty of pine trees to provide shelter, a picnic area and toilet facilities. Located between Pinky Beach and Longreach Bay, only 10 minutes from the main settlement. Considered the most perfect natural swimming pool with an underwater snorkelling playground.

Beach Patrol

Surf Life Saving WA conducts patrols of The Basin over weekends and public holidays between November and January each year. For further information regarding patrol dates and times, visit beachsafe.org.au.

The Basin is a popular swimming spot located in the northwest of Rottnest Island.

My Beach

The Basin is a popular picnic and swimming spot, backed by four Norfolk Island pine trees, shelters, a picnic area and toilet facilities. The narrow 200m long beach is wedged in between a low calcarenite bluffs, including a protruding central section and an intertidal platform with several large tidal pools. There is sand then reefs beyond the platform. The platform and outer reefs resulting usually calm conditions at the shore.
