Surf Life Saving in Western Australia is a volunteer-based not-for-profit community service association and is the key agency for beach safety in WA.
Surf Life Saving WA provides an essential educational and emergency rescue service to all users of West Australian beaches and plays a fundamental role in building healthy communities.
We employ 35 permanent staff, as well as a significant number of casual lifeguards, trainers and community education program instructors.
Current Positions Available
Lifesaving Development Officer
The Lifesaving Development Officer must be a future minded individual focused on facilitating the development and delivery of initiatives that assist to improve outcomes in the interest of coastal safety.
The role brings discipline to the delivery of these outcomes through rigorous research, framing, conceptualising, definition of scope and thorough delivery. Delivery will be achieved through continuous improvement methodologies or scoped projects with a strong emphasis on collaboration and advocacy with stakeholders.
The role supports the ongoing validation of existing or new lifesaving programs. Improvement opportunities must be well supported with analysis of quantitative inputs (i.e. operational data) as well as stakeholder input (i.e. end user feedback).
The role has responsibility and accountability to support service delivery teams, validate capacity and capability to deliver core services. A core focus will be on volunteer services.
The Lifesaving Development Officer must work closely and alongside the Training and Education Development officer to ensure alignment between both departments. Support and collaboration with the Support Operations.

2026/27 Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter Crew Talent Pool
We’re looking for committed, capable individuals ready to train, perform, and support lifesaving missions from the sky. This is a professional aviation rescue pathway, not your typical role.
You’ll be assessed on fitness, operational capability, and teamwork, and, if successful, developed to support both our Metro and South West operations.
Standards include:
• 400m swim under 7min30sec
• 25m underwater + 25m surface under 50secs
• 30min tread water
• Rescue crew mission assessments including casualty recoveries, loads over sand, and kit swims.

SLSWA provides a variety of employment opportunities for prospective Lifeguards including seasonal roles, which provide regular work (days and times) with part-time or full-time hours over a set period of time, and casual roles.

Casual Trainers – Accredited First Aid
SLSWA, a Registered Training Organisation (RTO: 51104), is known for its outstanding first aid training, using dynamic teaching methods and quality resources for members, industry groups, and the public.
SLSWA is looking for professional, well-presented First Aid Trainers (Casual) with excellent communication skills. Responsibilities include delivering first aid training, conducting and reviewing assessments, ensuring compliance, and participating in continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements:
- Hold the TAE40116 Cert IV Training & Assessment or equivalent.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver accredited/non-accredited training courses.
- Own transport and current driver’s licence
- A flexible attitude to work, including weekday and weekend work and travel.
- Hold a National Police Clearance and Working with Children Check or ability to obtain prior to commencement of employment.
