Fuel to Go & Play Surf Squad is a surf sports coaching program run by Surf Life Saving WA for its youth members aged U13 – U15.
Who is Fuel to Go & Play Surf Squad for?
Fuel to Go & Play Surf Squad provides specialised surf and beach event coaching in a fun, encouraging environment. It is suitable for any SLSWA member in age groups U13-U15 interested in improving their surf sports skills in a fun, supportive environment across 3 days.

Location: Leighton Beach, Fremantle.
Date: 1 – 3 October 2024
Time: 9 am – 11 am
Cost: $45 (3 x 2 hour sessions)

Ocean Sessions
Our Fuel to Go & Play Surf Squad Ocean Sessions will provide specialised board, surf swimming, and Ironman coaching from some of Western Australia’s top surf sports athletes.
What will participants learn?
Topics and skills covered in the program will include;
- Correct technique
- Board handling
- Race transitioning
- Training knowledge
- Pre-race preparation; and
- Finishing of races
Beach Sessions
Our Fuel to Go & Play Surf Squad Beach Sessions will provide specialised beach sprinting and flag coaching from some of Western Australia’s best surf sports coaches and athletes.
What will participants learn?
Topics and skills covered in the program will include;
- Drills/Pre event warm-up
- Beach sprint starts
- Flags
- Relay changes

All participants must be SLSWA members and have completed their 2024/2025 competition evaluation.
Please note participants will be required to provide their own board, hi-vis vest and drink bottle. We also remind participants to be SunSmart and recommend bringing a wide brim hat and wearing a long sleeve rash vest under their hi-vis vest.
