Congratulations to Surf Life Saving WA’s Community Partner Lendlease who, along with Landcorp, won the 2018 Residential Development award category at the recent Urban Development Institute of Australia National Awards for Excellence for their Alkimos Beach Development.

This is a highly sought-after industry award that recognises Lendlease and LandCorp’s extensive efforts to deliver a thoughtfully planned, innovative and sustainable coastal community of global significance.

Those familiar with Alkimos Beach will know that it was recognised by the Green Building Council of Australia as Australia’s first 6-star Green Star community, and is Surf Life Saving WA’s first BeachSAFE community including community, school and club based programs.

It is also the first development in Australia to trial utilising energy storage technology at the residential community level.

The award also recognises that residents living in Alkimos Beach have benefited from early establishment of amenities including two schools, a shopping centre, Alkimos Surf Life Saving Club, two beach access points, parks and playing fields.
