This course is ideal for anyone wanting to learn CPR and AED use in emergencies. It equips you with the skills and knowledge to perform CPR and manage emergencies in the community or workplace until medical help arrives.

Course Content
- Legal issues, recognition and management of an emergency situation, DRSABCD action plan
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for adult, child and infant, defibrillation, recovery and reassurance
- Incident reporting and review
Assessment
Delivery method: Face-to-face. Three (3) hours in-class session, which includes all theory and knowledge assessment required to complete the course.
Knowledge assessment: Candidates will complete a theory paper as part of the face-to-face course.
Practical assessment: includes demonstration, practice, and skills assessment to confirm the knowledge gained during the face-to-face training. Candidates must apply appropriate first aid procedures, perform uninterrupted CPR for at least 2 minutes on an infant manikin on a firm surface and an adult manikin on the floor, and use an AED.

Certification
Upon successful completion of the course, candidates will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for the following unit of competency:
- HLTAID009 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
SLSWA follows the ARC Guideline 10.1 Basic Life Support Training, which recommends all those trained in CPR should refresh their CPR skills at least annually.
