Got an U14/U15 who just can’t get enough of surf lifesaving? Or maybe they’re a lifeguard in waiting?

Join us for action-packed holiday activities at the inaugural two day Youth Lifeguard Program!

Get into the water with advanced surf and ocean skills training, hear from a visiting Lifeguard, get up close to surf lifesaving power craft, including Jet Skis and Inflatable Rescue Boats, and learn more about first aid and how to respond in an emergency.

WHAT’S INCLUDED: All activities, plus every youth participant will take home a very cool Lifeguard Academy cap and long sleeved shirt!

The Youth Lifeguard Program aims to:

• Provide a fun and engaging insight into SLSWA’s Lifesaving Services, with attendees participating in a range of activities while developing skills and knowledge applicable to working in the industry.
• Provide U14-15 Youth members information regarding on how to become a paid Lifeguard
• Gain an understanding of the daily tasks and responsibilities of a Lifeguard
• Provide opportunities to meet other youth members who share the same passion for beach safety and aquatic rescue
• Develop advanced lifesaving skills to respond to critical incidents
• Offer initial information and pathways to employment opportunities with SLSWA

Participation in the Youth Lifeguard Program:

The Program provides a fun two day program for Youth to develop and learn skills as well as gain exposure to key SLSWA operational areas including;

• Advanced Surf and Ocean rescue skills
• Powercraft operations
• Basic First aid and resuscitation

Participant pre-requisites:

To be eligible to enrol in the Lifeguard Academy’s Youth Lifeguard Program, participants must:

• Be a financial member of an SLSWA Surf Life Saving Club (SLSC)
• Must be in the U14 or U15 years Youth Age Category by 1 October 2024
• Have completed and achieved their Surf Rescue Certificate
