Stop. Look. Stay Alive. Before entering the water, take a moment to assess the conditions. Look for the red and yellow flags, check for hazards such as rip currents, and make sure the conditions are suitable for your skills and experience. Making the right decision before you enter the water can help save your life.
-
Swim Between the Flags The safest place to swim at the beach is between the red and yellow flags. This is where trained lifesavers and lifeguards are actively watching the water and ready to respond if someone gets into trouble. If they can see you, they can help you.

Know the Beach. Respect the Ocean. Western Australia’s coastline is beautiful, but conditions can change quickly. Understanding the risks, checking conditions and respecting the power of the ocean can help you, your family and your friends enjoy the coast safely.
