Many of us always have those objectives and goals to achieve for a better life. There are the classics: exercise more, quit a bad habit, save money, or maybe finally organise the shed. One life-changing goal worth acting on (and sticking with) is to learn first aid. SLSWA delivers nationally recognised first aid courses in both private and public settings, ensuring everyday Australians can be lifesavers too.

Which courses are best for me?

If you’re completely new to first aid and want to learn the basics, we offer the HLTAID001 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation course. This one-day course teaches the skills required to remain safe in emergency situations and provide early access and CPR. Completing the course provides you with a framework to manage life threatening situations, as well as a CPR certificate valid for 1 year.

Perhaps you know your DRSABCD, but want to know more about how to treat people in a variety of emergency situations. SLSWA offers the HLTAID003 Provide First Aid course. Completing HLTAID003 Provide First Aid provides you with a nationally recognised unit of competency that you can use in your workplace or the wider community.

First aid skills should always be kept current, so refreshing your HLTAID003 Provide First Aid every three years, as well as HLTAID001 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation annually, is imperative.

Who should learn first aid?

Everyone has the capacity and moral obligation to learn first aid. More than simply a workplace qualification, first aid skills equip us to save the life of a loved one or help the community in an emergency. First aid is a life skill which, while most people will not use daily, is immensely valuable on the day it is needed. Accidents and injuries can happen anywhere at any time, so it’s best if we’re all better prepared.

First Aid in the workplace

SLSWA first aid courses can be contextualised for use in your specific workplace; all of our courses are nationally recognised. Think beyond bush adventures, beaches or snake bites, we provide first aid relevant to all walks of life, encompassing content such as heart attacks, asthma, epilepsy and CPR.

Occupational health and safety laws require first aid training for key staff, as well as that policies and equipment remain up-to-date at all times. You never know when an emergency will arise, and being able to provide first aid confidently in a time of need may be the difference between life and death.

So, let’s do this!

Our promise is that we’ll make learning first aid useful, enjoyable and memorable – never boring! Get insight that goes beyond the classwork: SLSWA is home to friendly and relatable trainers, who have a wide range of experience with dealing with the varying types of first aid incidents.
