Earlier this month, we were delighted to welcome long term partners, the Scottish Masonic Charitable Foundation of Western Australia (SMCFWA), back on board for a further 3 years as they continue their support of our youth members.
Over the past 8 years their support of our very popular youth camps, TOAD (Teamwork, Opportunities, and Development) and Rise-Up, has been pivotal in providing opportunity for our youth members to pursue a range of pathways through the surf life saving movement.
Their renewed commitment, which this year includes an additional one off payment of $30,000, will see their support extending to encompass the breadth of SLSWA’s youth development initiatives including the new Youth Program, to be introduced over the 2018/19 season, incorporating the Youth Program Curriculum; Youth Leaders Program; and Youth Awards, in addition to the camps.
Surf Life Saving WA President Craig Smith-Gander thanked the SMCFWA for their support of this important membership group.
“Youth are one of the 4 Pillars of Surf Life Saving WA and our investment in their development, to keep them progressing through the ranks of the surf life saving movement, is vital to the health of our organisation moving forward,” said Mr Smith-Gander.
“The SMCFWA’s commitment to this group of our members, and their ongoing support for the work of Surf Life Saving WA and its programs, is greatly appreciated by all involved and we are delighted to have them back on board for a further 3 years.”
With the 2018/19 camps at capacity and fast approaching, 120 of our youth members are set to attend the camps in Pemberton and Rottnest where they will participate in a range of fun activities; learn and developed leadership and interpersonal skills; and build inter-club friendships.
SMCFWA Chairman Kevin McKay and Executive officer Peta Mclean met up with TOAD attendee Jack Hadley; Rise-Up attendees Lily Skipsey and Zach Evans; and SLSWA Senior Development Officer David Somers to hand over the $30,000 cheque, representing their additional investment for this year.
