My Beach

It was a full weekend of action and fun for our U10 – U13 athletes, with almost 900 Nippers putting their surf sports skills to the test at the 2018 SunSmart Nipper Metro Qualifier.

Trigg Beach hosted the weekend qualifying event and it was a fantastic two days of competition with Nippers from 13 clubs competing in the beach and water events.

Our young athletes stepped it up in the Beach Flags, Beach Sprint, Board Rescue, Board Race and Ironman/Ironwoman events and, with a moderate swell across both days, it proved a great test of their surf sports skills.

Congratulations to all competitors for both their efforts and the wonderful displays of sportsmanship and comradery shown across the two days of competition!

Qualifiers are being notified by their Clubs and will go on to compete in the upcoming SunSmart WA Nipper Surf Life Saving Championships at Scarborough Beach from Friday, 16 March to Sunday, 18 March.

SLSWA NIPPER CLINIC WITH SPECIAL GUESTS
In a bonus for our young members, over 130 Nippers were treated to a clinic on Saturday run by surf sports legend Phil Clayton and Ironman champion Max Beattie. The clinic was designed to test the skills of our Nippers in the event areas of board, swim, flag and sprints. A huge thank you to Phil and Max, who also came down to help out and cheer on our Nippers during Sunday’s competition!
