This CPR refresher course is aimed at candidates who have previously received a statement of attainment for the course HLTAID001 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and aim to requalify. The course updates and reteaches the necessary content to maintaining or restoring breathing and circulation to a casualty. Techniques for administering CPR to adults, children, and infants are all taught. Course content is based on the standards and policies developed by the Australian Resuscitation Council.

- Assessing the casualty and recognising the need for CPR
- Using the DRSABCD action plan
- Planning appropriate first aid response
- Administering external cardiac compressions (CPR)
- Adult, child, and infant CPR rates and techniques
- One and two person CPR techniques
- How to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
This course will assess competency via demonstration, presentation, and application of all course content. Application has a focus on using skills and knowledge of the course in the workplace. Assessment activities may include role-plays, oral and written questioning, practical demonstration and performance in simulated scenarios.
Please note that it is a requirement of this course that a demonstration of CPR must be performed on the floor.
ACCREDITATION AND VALIDITY
Candidates who successfully complete the course will receive a nationally recognised and WorkCover approved statement of attainment for the following course: HLTAID001 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
This statement of attainment is valid for one year. Candidates are recommended by the Australian Resuscitation Council to update their CPR skills every year.
