As part of your enrolment into a course, you acknowledge that you have also read and fully understood the information provided in the SLSWA Candidate Handbook. 

This course covers CPR techniques for adults, children and infancts, and is based upon the standards set by the Australian Resuscitation Council. As this is a requalification course it is recognised that candidates who have completed a CPR course previously, have some foundation knowledge prior to attending the course.

  • Infection Control
  • Recognise an emergency situation 
  • Assessing the casualty and recognising the need for CPR
  • Emergency action principles DRSABCD 
  • Plan an appropriate first aid response
  • Adult, child, and infant CPR techniques
  • One and two person CPR techniques
  • How to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

Assessment

This course is assessed through demonstration, presentation and application of all elements of competency in the workplace. Candidates will be required to complete activities that may include role-plays, oral and written questioning, practical demonstration and performing scenarios.

There is no online assessment required for this course. All assessment tasks are completed on the day of the course.

To complete the practical components of this course, all candidates must be able to demonstrate CPR on the floor.

Accreditation

Upon successful completion of the course, candidates will receive a nationally recognsied training statement of attainment for the HLTAID009 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation.

Validity

This course statement of attainment is valid for one (1) year from the date of the course. It is recommended by the Australian Resuscitation Council that candidates update their CPR skills every 12 months.

HLTAID009 Provide CPR Requalification | FAQs

CPR training needs to be refreshed every year. This is a recommendation by the Australian Resuscitation Council.
