Fun and interactive, our SurfBabies program is a great way to help both children and parents develop confidence in the beach environment.

The Albany SurfBabies program runs for six weeks on Sunday mornings designed to familiarise children with the beach environment and teach parents valuable skills in supervision.
Conducted by fully qualified surf lifesavers, the SurfBabies program in Albany is for 3-5 year olds, and delivers the following outcomes:

Beach Awareness Understand some types of animals that we share the beach and identifying the dangers at the beach
Patrol Identify who and what a Lifesaver does, identify red and yellow flags
Sun Safety Understand the meaning of Slip, Slop, Slap, Seek and Slide
Water Confidence Develop confidence in the water, jump waves, get body wet, sand side on to waves, floating on back-parental assistance, wading in and out of water, putting head under water and catching waves-parental assistance

An important note for parents and guardians SurfBabies requires parent/guardian participation in the class and for you to remain with your child at all times. Be sure to dress appropriately for this involvement! Please make alternative arrangements for the supervision of other children/siblings during the class. If conditions are unsuitable for swimming, the class will still proceed with the focus being on beach and surf awareness activities.
