Air Crew

As metro Air Crew I am responsible for working with the pilot and rescue crew members to conduct scheduled surveillance patrols looking for and taking action in response to different types of coastal hazards. I am responsible for safely dispatching rescue equipment or a Rescue Crew member from the helicopter in response to an incident.

Favourite part of the job of the job?

Flying up and down our awesome coastlines daily!

What inspired you to join the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter Service?

I was inspired to join the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter Service since a very young age as I progressed through the movement of Surf Life Saving. Over the years seeing the invaluable service the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter provided each summer along our coastline to beachgoers, combined with the interest in sighting hazards in real-time to keep WA beaches safer, inspired me to pursue a role in the service.

What motivates you to work for the service and help the community?

I am motivated by being able to provide an overhead perspective to our lifesavers and lifeguards of dangerous marine life or people in distress and the ability to warn beachgoers in the more remote locations of WA.

What advice would you give to those looking to become a crew member?

Become a lifeguard and demonstrate your eagerness to pursue a role with the crew

Do you have any aspirations in aviation?

I certainly would love to continue to pursue roles in aviation as rescue and air crewman providing an impact on those in the community needing help.

What do you think is the most important safety message you could share with the WA community  as a crew member?

Swim between the red and yellow flags and exit the water if you hear our siren!
