Rescue Crew

As a metro Rescue Crew in the Westpac Life Saving Helicopter my role is to look for sharks, keep the beaches and communities safe and apply my lifeguard abilities to rescue members of the community if they are in trouble.

Favourite part of the job?

Being able to keep members of the community safe and of course looking for sharks. Favourite experience would be, being able to fly in helicopter!!

What inspired you to join the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter Service?

This year will be my 4th season lifeguarding and my passion for the job continues to grow. I genuinely love helping others, and the chance to contribute to community safety from a helicopter is an incredible opportunity that I could not resist.

What motivates you to work for the service and help the community?

Flying in a helicopter for work is incredible, but being able to do so while making a positive impact on people’s lives is even more rewarding.

What advice would you give to those looking to become a crew member?

It’s an amazing job. Be ready to learn and meet some amazing people.

Do you have any aspirations in aviation?

I would love to be a rescue crew member for the metro service for many more season to come.

What do you think is the most important safety message you could share with the WA community as a crew member?

Know your limits when being the ocean.
