Join us for an action-packed day of holiday activities at the Nipper Lifeguard Program!
Get into the water with surf and ocean skills training, hear from a visiting Lifeguard, get up close to surf lifesaving power craft, including Jet Skis and Inflatable Rescue Boats, and learn more about first aid and how to respond in an emergency.

The Nipper Lifeguard Program aims to:
- Provide a fun and engaging insight into SLSWA’s Lifesaving Services, with attendees participating in a range of activities while developing skills and knowledge applicable to working in the industry.
- Provide U13 Nipper members information regarding how to become a paid Lifeguard
- Gain an understanding of the daily tasks and responsibilities of a Lifeguard
- Provide opportunities to meet other nipper members who share the same passion for beach safety and aquatic rescue
- Develop basic lifesaving skills to respond to critical incidents
- Offer initial information and pathways to employment opportunities with SLSWA
Participation in the Nipper Lifeguard Program:
The Program provides a fun one day program for Nippers to develop and learn skills as well as gain exposure to key SLSWA operational areas including;
- Surf and Ocean skills including surf awareness
- Powercraft operations
- Basic First aid and resuscitation
- Surf rescue skills and use of a rescue board
Participant pre-requisites:
To be eligible to enrol in the Lifeguard Academy’s Nipper Lifeguard Program, participants must:
- Be a financial member of an SLSWA Surf Life Saving Club (SLSC)
- Must be in the U13 years Nipper Age Category by 1 October 2024
- Have completed and achieved the Under 13 Preliminary Requirements for nipper participation
