Coaching and Officiating Workshops
Thanks to a grant through the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, SLSWA will deliver a series of member workshops aimed at developing our coaches and officials.
There are several options available to members, so whether you are a Nipper parent looking to get more involved in officiating at Nipper carnivals, a youth member interested in upskilling, or a coach looking to step up to the next level, there is an option for you! Bookings are essential.
Two-Day Coaching & Officiating Workshop – South West
When: 14 & 15 September 2024
Who: For members aged 16+
The aim of this workshop is to expose new coaches and officials to the roles, as well as upskill foundation coaches and/or core officials through practical sessions.
Coaches: The sessions will be led by 2024 SLSWA Coach of the Year Andrew Mosel, who will be joined by experienced beach coach Sam Dick. Sam has a wealth of coaching experience gathered from more than 10 years in coaching roles. He is the current Currumbin Beach Coach, Point Danger Branch Head Coach and the 2024 Australian Lifesaving Team Assistant Coach.
Time:
Day 1 – 8:30 am – 5 pm
Day 2 – 8:30am – 2 pm
Where: South West Development Centre, Margaret River.
Accommodation: Accommodation for the Saturday night will be provided at the Development Centre for those who require. Further information will be requested as part of your registration.
Other: Each day will start and end at the Development Centre. Transport to locations during the workshops will be provided.

One Day Coaching & Officiating Workshop
When: Saturday, 5 October 2024
For members aged 16+, the aim of this workshop is to expose new coaches and officials to the role as well as upskill foundation coaches and/or core officials through practical sessions led by the 2024 SLSWA Coach of the year alongside National Coaches.
Time: 8 am – 3:30 pm

High Performance Coaching Workshop
When: Sunday, 6 October 2024
For members aged 16+, this workshop aims to further the development of current Development and Performance coaches by presenting them with the opportunity to work with a national high-performance coach.
Time: 8 am – 4 pm
Where: Trigg Island SLSC
Pre-requisites: Attendees must hold a current Development or Performance coach accreditation

One Day Coaching & Officiating Workshop – Great Southern
When: Saturday, 23 November
For members aged 13+, this day will entail coaching and officiating practical sessions to enhance the skills of new and current coaches, age managers, and officials. This session will also include opportunities for youth members to participate in the Youth Program Pathways (Youth Officials & Youth Coach).
Time: 8 am – 5 pm
