Nippers with dreams of Olympic stardom and ironwoman status chased their share of glory at Trigg Beach over the weekend in the Junior Surf Life Saving State Championships.
The two-day event, which has run every summer for the past 30 years, involved more than 1200 competitors aged between 10 and 14.
Representing 21 clubs, the juniors were vying for 81 gold medals.
"I started because when I moved over from South Africa I saw my cousins were doing surf lifesaving and I thought 'that looks fun'," she said.
"I am going to keep doing it and hopefully it will help get me to the Olympics."
Brad Hibben, director of juniors at Trigg Island, said the event had attracted at least 2000 spectators.
Trigg Island took home the overall champion club trophy for the 14th consecutive year, 219 points clear of runners-up Mullaloo.
The male champion was Jeremy Andrew, 13, from North Cottesloe.
The female champion was Elise Smith, 14, from Trigg Island.
