Round two of the Surf Life Saving WA Surf Premiership Series was held at Secret Harbour over the weekend and saw WA’s surf sports athletes producing some excellent results in challenging conditions.
Overall it was Trigg Island Surf Life Saving Club who finished the event in first place on 254 points, ahead of Mullaloo SLSC (215 points) and City of Perth SLSC (197 points).
In the Ironman event Scarboro’s Andrew Mosel beat off a strong field of competitors to claim first place for the second successive round, having won the round one event at Scarborough on December 4. In the Ironwoman event it was Ceris Graham from Trigg Island SLSC who took out the race.

In the beach arena North Cottesloe’s Tom Nolan continued his dominance by taking out first in both the 90m beach sprint and beach flags in the open category. While in the open female event Gabrielle Murphy from City of Perth claimed first position in the beach flags. Murphy came second to Quinns Mindarie’s Alysse Hogan in the 90m Beach Sprint.
“We saw a lot of younger athletes trying to step up and take on the older open competitors, such as under 17’s athlete James McNess (Trigg Island) who competed in the open age group and came fifth in the open flags.
“The weekend also saw our experienced competitors continuing to lead the way in many events, including Andrew Mosel in the Ironman and Tom Nolan in the beach sprint events and these will be two WA athletes to keep an eye on at the upcoming WA State Championships and Australian titles,” said Surf Life Saving WA Sports Development Officer, Patrick Allin.
